Diphtheria is a bacterial disease or infection that attacks the mucous membranes, nose, and throat. Sometimes it also affects the skin usually there are cuts on the skin. Diphtheria is highly contagious and can be deadly.

Allegedly endemic due to minimal participation of immunization or geographical location that eventually difficult to reach health services in the region.

How did early symptoms of diphtheria work?
  • High fever over 29C
  • Decreased appetite

  • Lacking body.

  • Pain during swallowing and sore throat.

  • Mucus in the yellowish-green nose usually accompanied by blood and pain.

  • On the nose and throat there is a white or grayish membrane usually experience swelling in the neck.


How to prevent diphtheria :

1. Isolating people with diphtheria rather not spread to other parties

2. Avoid direct contact

3. DPT immunization

Health ministers claim that immunization can prevent diphtheria.

Immunization can be done regularly, namely:

- age> 1 year: 3x dfiteri immunization (DPT)

- age 1-5th: 2x re-immunization

- school age:

Re-immunization of the lunar program

Immunization of school children (BIAS)

- as adults: immunization every 10 years.

Diphtheria can be transmitted through touch, saliva and cough. The majority attack children. Make sure you are immunized. And the worse the disease can cause death
